Our focus on building for a workable world is a philosophy and approach that goes far outside a single project: it is an integrated functioning framework with sustainability as a core value.
We deliver cost-effective solutions that add actual business value. Our sustainability authorities work with owners and project teams to identify what’s truly important and develop a customized approach to meet their sustainable construction needs.
We leverage the best resources from across the company to help achieve clients’ visions of success.
We work with clients to progress cost-effective strategies to meet sustainable building targets. Our grade system expertise includes LEED, WELL, Living Building Challenges, Envision, Passive House, Fitwel and others. Striking the right balance among upfront sustainability investments and life-cycle cost savings can be trickly. In continual collaboration with the design team and client, we find the long-term cost benefits of sustainability practices, while meeting project targets within budget.
Our sustainability experts contribute to the design and preconstruction process to confirm key design measures result in compact operating costs while improving the overall sustainability of a project. Optimizing a building for energy efficiency needs thoughtful input from the entire project team. Our experts bring a deep understanding of building covering performance, HVAC efficiency and how best to implement practical and verified solutions that will result in savings to the building owner.
We work with clients to incorporate renewable energy and passive systems into their projects to help reach zero net-energy consumption. These systems include on-site solar, energy storage, battery walls, geo-exchange, geothermal heating and freezing systems and cogeneration and district energy systems.
Incorporation of inactive design elements and sourcing local materials helps reduce carbon footprint during construction and throughout the operational life span of the structure.
We develop innovative approaches to effectively accomplish the cost implications and logistical challenges that come with procuring, installing and commissioning green materials and systems.
Collaboration with the client and design teams is key to developing cost-effective solutions that meet proforma requirements and operational emissions, energy consumption and embodied carbon goals.
We constantly strive to decrease energy use in our yards, on our jobsites and in our offices. By testing new technology, such as solar-powered trailers, and joining with supply chain leaders we are falling the overall environmental impact of our day-to-day operations and the projects we build.
Our Sustainable Construction Advisors (SCAs) provide sustainable construction expertise to our buildings, civil and industrial project teams. The SCAs work collaboratively with clients to develop cost-effective strategies to reduce the overall environmental impact of their projects.
We keep our eyes on the future with forward-thinking, sustainable initiatives targeting the challenges brought on by a fast-changing climate. We know the risks associated with sea level rise and acknowledge that differing regional typographies need to be addressed appropriately.
We use construction approaches and materials that minimalize harmful effects to people and the environment while reducing long-term maintenance costs. Our sustainable practices include using LEDs for temporary construction lighting, including tower cranes, to improve efficiency, durability and reliability and timers for temporary lighting to ensure only necessary lighting is our during off-hours.
We partnered with Microsoft to develop our Job Site Insights TM platform, which allows for real-time monitoring of jobsite condition such as temperature and humidity by deploying ruggedized, low cost, reusable IoT sensors in the construction site. This allows us to make construction smarter by enabling lean methods, reducing costly rework and warranty claims, improving build quality, conserving energy, increasing productivity and safety and reducing NAUZAAV DESIGNING’s carbon footprint.
Achieving high levels of sustainable buildings and high-performance infrastructure requires significant planning and coordination among the design, construction and client teams.
Another brings 27 years of experience leading sustainability programs to his new role as NAUZAAV DESIGNING’s Director of Sustainability. Overseeing Canada and U.S., he supports NAUZAAV DESIGNING’s sustainability strategic plan, including goal tracking, value added knowledge, and a range of services provided to clients and project teams related to sustainable design and construction.
